Tangelos

I take my citrus seriously.  Seriously!  My latest farmers market haul included the usual winter goodies of oranges, lemons and tangelos.  It had been ages since I had eaten tangelos and I really wanted to share my experience with them with you. They're a cross between an orange and a grapefruit, full of juicy goodness.  They look like an orange, shaped like a grapefruit but taste like a tangerine.  Very versatile indeed.  In fact they are prized for their juice and often have more juice than pulp.  There are a few varieties but they all share that distinct "honey" like taste...in one word, addictive.

I thought about making a jam or a marmalade.  Then I thought about making a steamed pudding using them as a flavouring but in the end I enjoyed them naturally.  I simply peeled them and dolloped some Greek yogurt over them.  The final touch was to sprinkle them with some L.S.A (linseed, sunflower and almond mixture).

Click entry for Citrus

A nice, healthy and light start for a casual brunch.  (I won't talk about the sourdough toast with lashings of Danish butter that I gulped down afterwards!).  And a little bit different to my last one. My usual espresso kept me company along with all the good food news of the blogosphere on my laptop.  Life is good!

I'm entering my last picture for this month's Click Event which is themed "Citrus".
