Biteclub
“BiteClub” was an idea that came up over a friends bbq. People got talking, specifically Jason and Sarina, (2 friends of mine) and it was suggested that everyone meet up on a regular basis for a home cooked dinner. People getting together through food. That’s fantastic, I thought!!! So “BiteClub” was born. The rules were laid out and a sort of timetable was put together. This is how it works.
1) There are 14 people in total, all divided into sub groups. Every sub group gets the chance to host a dinner party at their place every second Tuesday. All done on a rotating basis.
2) Three courses are to be cooked, although this is flexible.
3) Every course has to be cooked, from scratch, by the individuals who are hosting that nights dinner.
4) No take-away!!!!…..That’s cheating!!!
5) Maria and Jason usually bring the most wine!!!!
It’s a great idea!!!….I absolutely love it. It not only bonds everyone through food but it’s a great chance for everyone to get out of their comfort zone and try something different. One girl from our group, Vanessa couldn’t even boil water. (OK thats a lie. She boils water all the time to make her herbal teas!!). Since Bite Club, she has learnt to cook Pumpkin Risotto, stir fry some noodles with chicken and veg, and make the most amazing peanut butter chocolate truffles!!!! The founding father and law maker of BiteClub, Jason, absolutely despises seafood. He vowed not to cook or even eat it!!! Since BiteClub he has tried it and even cooked it!!! He made a beautiful dewfish baked in the oven and accompanied it with fried zuchinni flowers and a rocket salad.
Call it what you like. It can go by any name. Grab your friends and start putting a schedule together. Get in the kitchen. Slice, chop, boil or bake. Try different things. You’ll have fun and maybe learn a thing or two. Look out for regular updates on my blog about BiteClub. I’ll be blogging them extensively.
