I’m Back!…

in Personal

I wanted to start off this post by saying “I’M SORRY!”.  Sorry for not posting and sorry for not keeping the blog updated.  You see, I’ve had a few technical issues in the last few weeks that has prevented me from posting.  And when I say “technical” I’m being kind.  A lovely reader informed me that my website was playing up and was being redirected to “questionable” sites.  In other words was I was hacked.  This is the second time it has happened to me and I thought it would be easy as removing a few bits of offending code and changing my passwords.  Um…it wasn’t that easy.  I removed the bits of offending code but somehow these morons kept on coming back and adding more.  It was a frustrating and tiring game of cat and mouse with no end in sight.  I finally bit the bullet and called in the professionals.  I hired a WordPress specialist (google was my friend!) and I let them loose on my files.  Well what do you know…these hacker bastards had stuck an invisible file on my server which kept on stealing my login details no matter how many times I changed them!!!  Aaargh!!!  Anyway, it’s all been sorted now so in the spirit of resurrection I decided to give Souvlaki For The Soul a little facelift.  I hope you like it.  The previous theme was nice but a lot of feedback indicated it was hard for people to find certain bits of information.  I’m not finished yet…I’m still tidying up loose ends and adding the last bits here and there.

I haven’t been entirely quiet.  I’ve still been cooking and here are a few pics of a few recent creations you’ll be seeing in the coming weeks.  I also have the Foodbuzz Blogger Festival to cover too (and what a fun night I had…except for the broken glass and my fly being undone….ahem!).

I’m sorry for your “tech” misadventures Peter. But it’s great that from the bad you took out the will to improve things, that’s the right spirit ;)

I also like that you publish huge images in these times when everyone is frightened about “image-stealing” and the matter… they’re your best business-card, don’t get scared by all those pointless panicky chit-chatting (images were and will be always stolen, no matter what you do to prevent it).

Good luck for your new version of the blog, I just finieshed to completely revamp mine (and when I mean complete I really mean it! LOL).

Hope to read some new posts of yours again soon!

Your friend, Alessandro

Open fly, broken glass? The party must have gone on long after I left!

I so enjoyed our time together and it’s been fun reading everyone’s posts about the event. I’m breaking mine into 3 parts (2 for the Festival and 1 for the rest of the trip). I look forward to seeing your photos. They’re always a treat as in the ones presented above.

Welcome back!! I missed you! I sooo know what you mean about those idiots who think it is fun (or useful??) to hack other peoples sites. It’s happened to me twice and luckily I have been able to eventually fix it but it’s cost me many nightmares. Good to know that there are people out there that I could hire if ever that need arises (hope not ofcourse!)
love the new look of your blog. It looks a bit more userfriendly and what I have seen sofar it’s very pretty!

We were all so happy you too the loooong trip to come and be at Foodbuzz. You were hilarious and I’m sure by now the whole Photography 101 class in between glasses of wine completely escapes you. We laughed, we drank, we ate, we drank some more, we acted like idiots – sounds like a perfect time to me.

Oh that’s not fun. But I am glad you have it sorted out now. I always wonder WHY on earth people have to do those things to destroy other people’s work. What’s the point?
Nice redesign. At least, it gave you an opportunity to bring some lovely change.

I am so glad the hackers finally received the boot. The Foodbuzz Festival was such a riot, so well put together and definitely worth repeating. It was a pleasure to meet you, evern if only for a short period of time, not something I had ever thought of since you live “down under”. Can’t wait to see what more you have in store for us on the new and revamped Souvlaki for the Soul.

Love the fresh new look Peter! I’m in San Fran next weekend – don’t forget to give me your secret tips :)

I’m so jealous of those cherries… I can’t wait to be home in less than a month to devour them.

What a nightmare Peter – when you told me that in the email. I went and changed all my passwords just to be on the safe side. LOL! I am so looking forward to all these yummy stuff and cherries – oh you are a tease!

Peter, or is it Petah. I loved having dinner with you and thank you so much for giving in to Zuni. I already made the zuni chicken when I got back and I’m going to perfect it for our thanksgiving (yuck on big turkey). I’m out choosing restaurants, trying to hit our locally owned places only (stay tuned on my blog) and I’ll be ready when you hit Nashville.

P.S. I saw that the cookbook is ready and I couldn’t copy the code, could you?

Glad those ……have been scurried off your blog.

Hey Peter, it’s so nice to have you back. When you mentioned you had some technical problems a couple of weeks ago on my blog I never imagined it was that kind of problem! Those bastards have nothing better to do than frustrate nice people like us, LOL. I like the new theme. It’s simple and very clean. And your pictures are making me hungry, as usual! :)

You know you’ve really hit the big time, darling, when you get hacked. Glad to hear you’re safe and sound. I have no such excuses for abandoning my blog (well, I guess I do have this baby coming any day now, but pish posh).

Well I was wondering where you were, but didn’t want to ask, as many bloggers get fatigue and there is no point pressuring them with questions. The whole hacking ordeal sounds very frustrating, but I am glad you’re back and can’t wait to read all these lovely things you have lined up!
