Photo Friday-A little bit of Sydney

This summer has definitely been a “mixed bag” of surprises.  A few weeks ago I actually threw a light cotton blanket on the bed…that’s a first for a Sydney summer! What I have been enjoying are the cloud formations that form in  the evenings.  They have provided a spectacular backdrop for our famous harbour and Opera House.  Great for a spot of photography! Enjoy the weekend everyone.  Take care and [...]

A pre-Xmas Celebration

by Peter G December 21, 2011 Personal
Thumbnail image for A pre-Xmas Celebration

It seems like my days leading to Xmas are busier than ever. I don’t know about you but just in this last week I have been to numerous “get togethers”, social engagements and restaurants.  Like I said in my mini pavlovas post, I plan on having a “low-key” Xmas. However, that doesn’t mean the days leading up to it haven’t been jam packed. Just the other day I was invited [...]

Photo Friday-Feeling a little “blue”

by Peter G December 9, 2011 Personal
Thumbnail image for Photo Friday-Feeling a little “blue”

I don’t think I’ve ever told you that my favourite colour is blue.  It’s practically three-quarters of my wardrobe! I was obsessed with it as a child.  Baby blue, sky blue, dark blue…everything was blue! So when I saw this deep blue, ornate, plate recently, I couldn’t resist.  Remember my post on food and prop styling for food bloggers?  I explained in that post that it was important to determine [...]

It’s great to be posting pics again for this “Photo Friday” feature.  These shots were taken on a recent trip to Singapore.  When you have views like these you kind of get obsessed about taking

Orecchiette with Broccolini and being a ” Featured Foodie”

I spoke to some friends yesterday who said they were doing a “no carb” diet. I am always amazed when I hear that people remove certain foods from their diets purposefully. I’m not saying you need to eat “everything” but I think balance is good.  And when it comes to carbs and me, we have a great relationship. Especially pasta. I like to make at least one pasta dish a [...]

Photo Friday-Food Photography with artificial lights

Thumbnail image for Photo Friday-Food Photography with artificial lights

I posted a photo of this spaghetti dish on Flickr yesterday.  It’s your basic “spag bol” (however let’s call it a lamb ragu) made with lamb mince instead of beef or a combination of pork and veal.  I didn’t want to bore everyone with another basic spaghetti dish on the blog.  However, I did want to share how I photographed this shot.  This post was especially written for Anh and [...]

There it stands. Strong. Resilient. A true champion of the kitchen. I’m talking about my recent purchase-the mortar and pestle. How did I survive without one so long? I thought it only fitting to photograph this beast. Thanks again for dropping by

First off I’d like to say a very big thank you to everyone who sent me emails, left comments and tweeted about the interview I did for Learn Food Photography.  It was a great privilege and honour to be able to express my thoughts and processes about how I tackle food photography.  I hope I

Photo Friday-Two Times Limes

I’m really enjoying limes at the moment.  They are everywhere and quite reasonably priced too.  I’ve been using them in a few recipes (they’re not only for cocktails!) that I’ll be featuring soon and as usual I just adore photographing them.  I wanted to create two different moods here.  One

Glimpses of New York

When you have very limited time in an iconic destination, such as New York city what do you do?  You go non-stop! It had been a little over six years since my last visit and let’s just say that it didn’t disappoint.  I tried to cram in as much as I could in less than 24 hours.  I know some of you actually live here and for that I envy [...]

Christmas day lunch?  A flashback to the 70′s?  A modern day revamp of “surf and turf“?  All of the above.  I haven’t had this combination of meat and seafood in years.  I predict it

Photo Friday-Salad Days

Thumbnail image for Photo Friday-Salad Days

It’s salad time!  The weather is high in humidity and you’ll probably hear the usual “it’s hot” posts by me.  It’s also the time of year that I get to indulge in my favourite salads.  I know you can whip up anything and call it a salad these days but I’m heading back to my roots.  Crisp, iceberg lettuce, cooling cucumber and juicy tomatoes.  Onions used to make an

After last week’s monochromatic feel of green eggs, I thought it would be fun to continue the theme with a few more images I shot this week.  I’m enjoying exploring different concepts
