We (over) ate.
If you’re a little confused by my intro let me explain.
A few weekends ago, Adelaide was host to Eat Drink Blog 2012. Eighty food bloggers from around Australia gathered in the “city of churches” for an action packed weekend filled with food related and blogging activities.
I have to admit. It was a much needed boost.
I’m not going to start with apologies regarding my absence. A lot has gone down in my personal life and attempting a work/blogging/life balance can be tricky at times.
I’m thankful that I was able to attend and be surrounded by much needed energy and enthusiasm. It was exactly the inspiration I needed.
It was great meeting new people and putting the faces to blog names and twitter handles.
I’m also thankful that I was allowed to ramble about my favourite subject. Photography. I was quite nervous before the presentation but thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to all who attended. I had a blast! (and don’t forget the “Pinterest effect”)!
It was also great fun being asked to talk about opportunities that arise from food blogging. Helen from Grab Your Fork and Sandra from 120 dollar food challenge were great co-presenters. They talked about their personal journeys in the world wide web-and even I learnt a few things! Thanks ladies.
I loved that we got a chance to walk around the Adelaide Cental Market and taste little bits and pieces from the various food establishments.
The tour of d’Arenberg winery in McLaren Vale was another highlight. I love red wine and being able to mix various grapes together to get that perfect blend was challenging, yet very educational. Trina from The Gourmet Forager and myself teamed up and we concocted the “Foraging For The Soul” blend. I have to say her palate is a lot more sophisticated than mine and she taught me a few things! Thanks Trina!
By the time Saturday night came around I was a little exhausted. Little did I know we would be smothered with an array of Tex Mex style foods. Think “dude food” on steroids.
Above all I would like to thank the organising commitee. Without your hard work none of this would have been possible. You managed to create a little community over a period of 48 hours and in my eyes (and everyone else’s) it was very professional. Well done!
A special mention must be made about the two co-chairs of Eat Drink Blog 2012. Amanda from Lambs’ Ears and Honey and Christina from The Hungry Australian-you ladies should consider running for Prime Minister! Thank you for asking me to present and thank you for putting up with my “humour”. In all seriousness you should be proud about the event you put on. If you need a reference you know where to find me!
Oh! and Dianne Jacob…if you think there was a lot of “gushing” in this post, you’re absolutely right!
Take care and enjoy your weekend everyone.
