About Me
My name is Peter and I live in the inner city of Sydney. Sydney is located in the state of New South wales, which is in the country of Australia.
I am in a very fortunate position that I can travel to most parts of the globe and around Australia. This is fantastic, as it has allowed me to try different foods, cuisines and eat at many great places. In fact, I credit my travelling, for expanding my gourmet adventures.
I’m 36 38 and of Greek descent. Hence the reference to souvlaki in the title of my blog. Souvlaki is a traditional dish of Greece eaten in a variety of ways and is also heavily featured in the Middle East. In Australia, souvlaki has become synonymous with Greeks, especially in areas where they have settled. Melbourne in particular, where I grew up.
Food has always played an important part in my life for me. It’s the first thing I tend to define a country by, when I travel. Growing up and having a chef for a father also defined me. My earliest memories consist of kitchens and charcoal grills!!! I was fascinated with all the goings on of the kitchen and how food was made. As I grew older and worked in a number of food establishments my interest grew, but I never really pursued my “foodie” fascination. If you ever get a chance, please read Anthony Bourdain’s “Kitchen Confidential”…you’ll know what I mean!!!
Alas, I find myself many years later wanting to get back into the food game. And I think a blog is a good way to begin this.
